Private Client Solicitor - Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight | Permanent | Up to £75,000

RecQuest is working with a well-established law firm on the Isle of Wight to recruit a Private Client Solicitor. The firm has deep roots in the local community, multiple offices across the region, and a private client team that handles genuinely varied, high-quality work.

This is a role for a qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive who wants to manage their own caseload across the full range of private client matters, build lasting client relationships, and work in a practice where your reputation in the community carries real weight.

The salary of up to £75,000 reflects the calibre of candidate the firm is looking for. For context, the Ten Percent Legal salary guide (July 2026) places wills and probate nationally at £45,000 to £65,000. This role sits above market, and that is deliberate.

The role

You will manage your own caseload across a broad range of private client work, including:

  • Wills and estate planning

  • Probate and estate administration

  • Trusts, including creation, variation and administration

  • Tax planning and wealth preservation

  • Lasting powers of attorney

  • Court of Protection applications where required

The firm's client base includes individuals, families and business owners across the Isle of Wight and the surrounding South Coast region. Many client relationships span decades. The work is advisory in nature, not volume-driven, and the firm values depth of service over throughput.

About you

  • 3+ years PQE, though the right candidate at a more senior level would be equally welcome

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with private client experience

  • Confident managing your own caseload with minimal supervision

  • Strong client care and the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships

  • STEP qualification or TEP status is desirable but not essential

  • Commercially aware with a genuine interest in private client advisory work

Why consider this role?

The Isle of Wight offers something most mainland legal markets do not. A legal community where your reputation genuinely matters. Clients who value personal service and continuity. A cost of living that lets a salary of this level go further than the same figure in Guildford, Winchester or Southampton.

The firm is well-established, well-regarded locally, and operates from multiple offices across the region. This is not a start-up or an unknown practice. It is a firm with a track record of retaining good people and serving its community well.

For solicitors currently on the mainland, the Isle of Wight is a short ferry crossing from Portsmouth or Southampton. Many professionals who make the move find that the combination of meaningful work, a strong local network, and a pace of life that allows proper balance is exactly what they were looking for.

Private client continues to be one of the most stable and rewarding practice areas on the South Coast.
