Private Client Senior Associate - Winchester

Winchester | Full time | £60,000 to £75,000 depending on experience

RecQuest is recruiting on behalf of an established Hampshire law firm that is looking to appoint a Senior Associate within its Private Client department in Winchester.

This is a genuinely senior opportunity. You will carry a substantial caseload of complex private client work, take a lead role in supervising and developing junior team members, and contribute directly to the strategic direction of the department. The firm is not looking for someone to fill a gap. It is looking for someone who can lead.

Winchester is one of the strongest private client markets on the South Coast, with a client demographic that generates consistently high-quality advisory work around succession planning, wealth preservation and complex estates. The firm has a well-earned reputation in this area and a loyal, high-value client base that reflects it.

The role

You will manage a caseload focused on the more complex and advisory end of private client work, including:

• Complex will drafting, including tax planning and multi-jurisdictional considerations

• Probate and estate administration, including large and complicated estates

• Trust creation, variation and administration

• Succession planning and wealth transfer advice

• Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters

• High net worth and multi-generational client relationships

Alongside your own caseload, you will:

• Supervise and mentor junior fee earners and support staff within the department

• Contribute to business development and client acquisition

• Play a meaningful role in shaping how the private client team operates and develops

About you

The firm is looking for a senior private client lawyer who is ready for responsibility, visibility and influence.

You will need to be:

• A qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial private client experience

• STEP qualified or actively working towards STEP

• Technically strong across wills, trusts, probate and estate planning

• Experienced in handling complex estates and HNW clients

• Confident supervising and developing more junior colleagues

• Commercially aware with a genuine interest in building client relationships

• Based within commuting distance of Winchester
